I love porches and these are just awesome to me.
I love the windows on the house below and how the house is situated on the corner.
So far I have shown only pink gingerbread style houses, but there are many other colors used in this type of architecture. In fact if you use three or more contrasting colors on the outside of this style house it would qualify as a "Painted Lady." The other requirements to be considered a painted lady is that it must display a balance and harmonious blend of architecture and color. The colors must bring out the decorative embellishments of the house. As many as eleven colors have been used on one house.
Above is an authentic painted lady located in Illinois.
In the picture above you can see how the intricate embellishments are painted. It is interesting to me that the movable part of the window is painted a different color than the window frame.
Hope you enjoyed this post. I would love to hear from you and make new friends in my new venture in blogging. Seasons Greetings to all.

Hi Carry Ann,
I have to tell you. I have a Vision Board that I started about two years ago. There are about 3 things left on my board and one of them is a Pink Victorian Gingerbread House. I would have to win the lottery or find a rich man to get make that dream happen.

I am going to love your blog!!! I just became a follower. I, too, adore houses...I don't know why they fascinate me the way they do, but they do. And...I love the olden ones with all the lovely old gingerbread that I would not want to paint, but love anyway! Living in a craftsman, I can't have any of the lovely ornate trims I love so much....
When I pass by older, lovely homes, I just want to see inside so badly...I guess that is the snoop in me. lol!
Have a very Merry Christmas and I am soooo happy to meet you!

Carey Ann. These houses are beautiful, some a wee bit much, LOL. I can not imagine the work that went (goes) into all painting. I love how the decorative embellishments frame the windows and porches, so so pretty, like a doily. Thanks for sharing them. Welcome to Pink Saturday, glad you have joined us.

Carey Ann - the houses you posted are absolutely BREATHTAKING. OMG I love these types of homes! My Nana lived in a home similar to the first one you posted, but it did not have the ornamental spindles. It is a farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania, and holds many special childhood memories for me. Thank you for sharing these!
I am visiting and a fellow newbie to Pink Saturday. Wishing you and yours a very Merry Christmas!

When can I move into house #1? It won't take me long to pack! I love the pictures and I adore Victorian era homes. The architecture is gorgeous. They surely do not make homes like those anymore.
Hugs, LisaKay
